Through research and testing sponsored by the National Science Foundation and The Getty Conservation Institute, as well as field investigations following several earthquakes, Fred Webster, Ph.D., P.E. has been at the forefront of developing technical procedures for improving seismic performance of historic and older low-strength masonry structures consistent with architectural, historic, and cultural conservation values. Fred Webster Associates has a keen awareness of how various structural elements and retrofit measures interact to either help or hinder the overall seismic performance, and is dedicated to the search for and application of appropriate solutions for the seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of historic and older low-strength masonry structures.
